At the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit in Bangkok, thousands of people from all over the world attended. A string of business leaders and government heads addressed the event. Speakers included the Prime Ministers of Thailand, Malaysia, Russia and New Zealand, and Aung San Suu Kyi of Myanmar.
A clear and concise message emanated from the business community suggesting that future prosperity depends on closer regional integration, harmonisation of trade, and collective solutions to social and environmental problems.
So many very different cultures, languages and traditions, yet such a commitment to working and learning together, from investing in "ASEAN 4.0" to developing the entrepreneurs of the future. With such energy, enthusiasm and self-belief, creating a region that can trade - and compete - with the world's most powerful players is surely within reach.
